Mr. LeVasseur hired me to teach grade 4 at Thomas Lake Elementary School in Eagan. His first priority as a principal was the students. He greeted them each morning as they entered the building, he chatted with them in the lunch room, and he knew the student’s families. Mr. L was kind person, possessed a good sense of humor, encouraged staff development and was generous with his smile!
Mr. LeVasseur, hired me to be the librarian at Thomas Lake when it opened in the fall of 1979. I had been teaching in elementary classrooms for 10 years, but this was my first job as a librarian. He believed I could do it. Since the building was not finished when the school year began, it became quite a difficult task to get all the books and AV checked in, labeled, and catalog cards sorted and filed, and finally get books and materials on the shelves and available for checkout by students and staff. He gave me encouragement and trusted me to get the work done as quickly as possible. I appreciated that!
I also agree with what Julie A. wrote.
