October 8, 1932 - November 14, 2017

Helmi Packa, 85, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s in Duluth. A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Range Funeral Home at 3:00 pm with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Marvin Aultman will officiate. Helmi Irene Elizabeth Packa was born October 8, 1932 to John and Nellie (Juola) Wiinanen. She graduated from Cherry High School. On May 24, 1952, she was united in marriage to Roy Packa. Helmi worked for the Cherry Co-Op Store, and the Cherry School as a bus driver for nine years. She resided in Cherry all her life.

She loved sports, various crafts and was an avid knitter, making sure that all grandchildren and great grandchildren had their own afghans as babies and when they wed.

Helmi was a founding member of Grace Bible Church.

She is survived by:

Children: Dan (Wendy) Packa of Cherry

Jack Packa of Cherry

Mark (Kari) Packa of Coon Rapids

Jean (Daniel) Anderson of Stacy

13 Grandchildren

38 Great Grandchildren

Cousins: Eino Santi and Hilda Miller

Many nieces, nephews, and other family

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; 6 brothers; and 2 sisters

    I am so sorry for your loss. During this sad time, please take comfort in knowing that our Heavenly Father has promised a future we have not known by means of the sacrifice of his son, Jesus Christ -John 3:16. The Bible describes the time when we will be reunited with our dear loved ones and friends at. -Isaiah 65:20-25 and John 5:28,29).
