Zac passed away Tuesday, November 27th, 2018 as a result of a recent illness.

He graduated from Eveleth-Gilbert High School, Class of 2003. Throughout his high school career he developed many close friendships with baseball and basketball teammates.

Following his graduation, Zac attended Grand Rapids Community College.  He worked alongside his brother, Bryan, and brothers-in-law, Isaac and Brenden, learning carpentry, masonry, and electrical skills.  Most recently Zac was employed by Cram Concrete out of Waterville, MN and previously employed through Redfield Masonry out of Glenwood, MN.

He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and golfer.  Zac loved hiking and enjoyed the outdoors so much that if you couldn’t find him at home, you would be sure to find him somewhere out on a lake or in the woods. He was very proud of his Finnish heritage – he had SISU and loved taking saunas. He quoted often, “The sauna is the Finnish Man’s pharmacy.”  Zac loved the challenge of learning new things and a good debate. He could challenge anyone to a game of pinball in his parent’s basement and usually won. Zac had a great sense of humor and would make everyone laugh. He loved playing his guitar and spending time with his dog, Ruger. Zac was a loving man and held a special place in his heart for everyone, especially his nieces, nephews, and close cousins.  Most of all his heart was with his girlfriend, Becky Vikla. He is loved by many and will be greatly missed by numerous extended family and friends.

Zac is survived by his Parents, Rodney and Dorothy (Savela) Limanen of Eveleth, MN; Siblings: Bryan Limanen (Marlo Turschner) of Palmeto FL, Cheri (Chris) Kadlec, Elijah, Tyler and Jada of Chaska MN, Heather (Brenden) Schwenn, Josh, Nathan, Annabelle and Zoë of Stockholm SD, Stephanie (Isaac) Burns, Ethan and Katlyn of Backus MN, Bethany (John) Delvas, Alexandra, Marissa, Austin, Jaden and Maija of Two Harbors MN;  Grandmothers, Sophie Limanen of Cloquet, MN and Shirley Savela of Parkville, MN; Many loving Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

Zac was preceded in death by his Grandfathers, Melvin Limanen of Cloquet MN and Roland Savela of Parkville MN and infant nephew, Jacob Kadlec.

His parents, family and friends will miss him deeply until they are reunited in Heaven.

So sorry to hear of Zac’s passing. I was only able to meet him once at Becky’s brother’s house warming party, but his sense of humor really impressed me, and we laughed all evening. As he told me stories of hunting experiences he had, I could tell he was the type to jump right in and enjoy life instead of waiting for life experiences to come to him. So very sad that it was cut so short. As a parent myself, I can’t imagine what you are going through right now, but our thoughts and prayers will go out to you, and your family. Joe and Mary Widmer

  18. Frederick Green says:

Right now, when your loss is so fresh, it may be difficult for you to imagine that this pain will ever go away. But in time the blessing of God’s unfailing love will soften the hurt you’re feeling and bring your heart the peace, comfort and hope that it needs to heal. How? Revelation 21:4 tells us that soon everything that causes us pain, including death, will be gone forever. We also have the hope of our loved ones being resurrected here on earth, as Acts 24:15 tells us. I do hope you find comfort in this.
Though I did not know Zachary, he sound like a beautiful person. I am touched by your loss. Please accept my sincere condolences. ( JW.org )
