SERVING VIRGINIA AND HIBBING AREAS FOR OVER 100 YEARS

Robert Thomas Forrest Sr.

01/07/1947 - 02/09/2021

On February 9, 2021, surrounded by his loving family at home, Robert returned to the arms of his heavenly father. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God comforted and gave him peace in his final days.

He was born to Julian and Effie Forrest of Sauk Center, MN; who preceded him in death along with his brother, Ronald (Gwen) and brother-in-law, Victor Zellgert, who he loved like a brother.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Diane, and his 5 children: Dale, Michelle (Jim), Wendy (Todd), Robert (Emily), and Julie; his siblings: Judy, Kathryn, John (Dotty), and Tami (Paul). Robert is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In his younger years, he received his certification for appliance repair and refrigeration and went on to start his own appliance repair business. Robert was an avid hunter and fisherman and was proud to share his love for nature and its bounty with all of his family and friends. Being a “jack of all trades,” there wasn’t anything he couldn’t do. He was always tinkering, loved to build things, and was highly creative. Robert was known for his adventurous spirit and quick wit. He loved to laugh; he was always making jokes or pulling pranks. His mischievous smile will be greatly missed by his loved ones.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are with Range Funeral Home in Virginia.

Sad to hear of his passing. He was great with children, treating his kids friends children as his own grand children. My son always called him grampa Bob. He always had a story to tell, and loved sharing his vast knowledge. He will be greatly missed.
