Martha Violet Norha, 89, of Virginia, passed away Monday, December 31, 2018 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s in Duluth. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Messiah Lutheran Church at 1:00 pm with visitation one-hour prior. Pastor Joyce Piper will officiate. Martha grew up in Embarrass, MN and attended Embarrass High School. She was united in marriage to Arnold Norha in October 1953. The couple moved to the Mountain Iron area where they raised their daughters.

Martha was a faithful member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Mountain Iron for decades. She enjoyed volunteering with the women’s quilting group there. She also volunteered with the Virginia Historical Society and Meals on Wheels. Martha retired from Arrowhead Nursing Home as a nurse’s aide.

She loved her family and friends and her grandchildren were a source of joy.

She was a loving person to her family, friends, and will be greatly missed. She was a beautiful person inside and out.

She is survived by her children, Margaret (Joseph) Sullivan, Rebecca (Robert) Enger, and Amy Norha; grandchildren, J. Matthew Sullivan, Nick Sullivan (Amber Dennis), Ryan Enger, (Jessica), Paul Enger, Esq. (Alex Berns), Martie Enger, Holly Norha, and Sophia Norha; great grandchildren, Emma Sullivan and Mariah Neely-Enger; sister, Lillian Angelo; sisters-in-law, Bertha Maki (Charles) and Joyce Niemi.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold; siblings, Eleanor, Ben, Arthur, Helen and in-laws.

    My deepest sympathy. Martha was always very kind when I would run in to her from time to time and she was well loved by my dad, her cousin, Milton Johnson.
