Marshall Lee Thompson, 72, of Britt, passed away on Monday, September 27th 2021.

Marshall was born on August 22nd, 1949 in Virginia, Minnesota, to Leslie “Mike” and Elizabeth “Betty” (Fischer) Thompson. Marshall was united in marriage to Cindy Koski on December 17th, 1993. He worked for U.S. Steel for over 35 years.

Marshall enjoyed the great outdoors and camping. He loved music and spending time out on the lake.

Marshall is survived by his wife, Cindy of Britt; children: Marshall (Suzanne) Thompson of Corvallis, OR, Andrea Kilpela of Eveleth; step-children: Jeremy Koski of Atlanta, GA, Amy (Mark) Madden of Mt. Iron; numerous grandchildren; one great-grandson; numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Marshall was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Rodney “Skippy”; granddaughter, Kirsty Kilpela; and his best buddy, Niki.

A private family burial service will be held Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Makinen Cemetery.

Arrangements are with Range Funeral Home in Virginia.

    Best regards to Marshal’s family. I worked with Marshal a lot in the 70’s & early eighties. I also helped Marshal some when he started building his cabin on Vermillion. Sad to read his passing I always enjoyed my memories of working with Marshal

    I worked and snowmobiled with Marshall years back. I enjoyed doing both with him. He was a dedicated worker and new the trails well.
