He was born on April 25th, 1934, to Anton and Elizabeth (Olson) Haugen in Virginia, MN. Len graduated from Virginia High School in 1952 and joined the Navy in 1954. He worked as a pipefitter aboard the U.S.S. Fort Snelling on its maiden voyage. After the Navy, Leonard married Sharon Pietrini of Virginia in 1960, and together they had 5 children.

Len was known for his strong work ethic and ability to fix anything. He and his Dad built the home in Britt that he and Sharon raised their family in and lived in for 48 years. Always willing to help others, Len worked on many projects for family and friends over the years.

Len loved fishing, golfing, playing poker and taking saunas. Most of all, he loved his family and was very proud of his children and grandchildren. His best times were spent with family and his beloved wife, Sharon.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sharon; sons, Leonard and Anthony (Joanne); daughters, Therese (David) Rasch and Kathleen (Stephen) Praska; special nephew, Michael (Kerry) Pietrini; grandchildren, Karly Haugen; Grant, Madeline and Nicholas Haugen; Jacob, Rachel, and Allison Rasch; Abigail and Isabel Praska; Peyton and Gage Pietrini; brothers, Earl and Leighton; sister, Donna Bachman; and numerous beloved family members.
