LaVerne Mae Eilola was born in Chicago on May 26, 1927, and grew up in Finntown, Virginia, MN. LaVerne was united in marriage to Robert Eilola on July 31, 1947. She was very proud to have worked at the local ‘49ers for many years.

LaVerne enjoyed spending time at the cabin and fishing on Lake Vermilion. More recently she enjoyed the Sundays with Pastor O’Brien and his wife, Rebecca. She loved Pokeno and Bingo at the nursing home, and was voted Valentine Queen of 2020 at the Virginia Care Center. She liked crocheting and was excellent at knitting. LaVerne was the Spelling Bee champion during her school days. She was a huge fan of the Minnesota Twins, and was a devout follower whether they were winning or not. LaVerne adored fishing, especially in search of her ever-elusive 5-pound walleye. LaVerne had a kind and forgiving soul and never met a person that she didn’t call her friend. She will be greatly missed my many.

To the family of LaVerne, we were so sorry to hear of LaVerne’s passing. My husband and I enjoyed visiting with her at the VCC during lunch time. She was at the same table as my mom Helen Foosness. During this virus time I was hoping we would have the joy of seeing her again when it was over. Our prayers and sympathy to all of you and she will dearly missed.
