SERVING VIRGINIA AND HIBBING AREAS FOR OVER 100 YEARS

Jeffrey Allen Dickman

08/24/1967 - 10/20/2021

Jeffrey Allen Dickman, age 54, of Virginia, lost his hard fought battle with cancer on October 20, 2021.

Over the years Jeff worked for the Italian Bakery in Virginia, his father’s construction business, did work as an asbestos remover in Grand Rapids and was a handi-man for his friend Bruce. He also had the privilege to work as a sound board guy and traveled with bands across the country.

In his youth he was a fabulous basketball player with many area coaches drooling over him. He would skip school any chance he could and was often caught by his mother smoking cigarettes in front of the Holiday Inn and brought back to school. If his father caught him he would threaten him by telling him he was going to each class with him to ensure he would get to each class. He was an all around trouble maker with him being openly defiant in doing the opposite of what he was told.

He was very stubborn and was his own boss. He was very headstrong with a high level of independence¬† and any offer of help would have been rejected with him saying “I got it.”

Jeff’s family would like to personally and publicly thank Bruce Mattson for all the help and everything he did to help Jeff including giving his cat a good home.

Jeff is survived by his father, Dick (Pat) Dickman; mother, Bonnie Welhaven; siblings: Tracy Welhaven, Chris (Kim) Welhaven and Lori (Alex) Ivanovic; nephews: Cory, Aj, Aiden, Joey; nieces: Ashely, Carli, Averie, and Olivia; and special friend, Bruce Mattson.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, October 29, 2021 at 2 pm at Range Funeral Home in Virginia. Lead speaker will be Bruce Mattson, followed by anyone who would like the share a few words or stories about Jeff.

Arrangements are with Range Funeral Home in Virginia.

My condolences to Jeff’s family and friends. I’m so grateful to have known him and call him my friend. Even though he liked to hold up a tough on the outside persona, Jeff was always willing to help others and share his true heart.
