Howard G. Haiman, 74, of Britt, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at Edgewood Vista in Virginia. A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Range Funeral Home at 2:00 pm with visitation one-hour prior. Pastor Terry Sonnentag will officiate. Howard George Haiman was born June 12, 1944 in Virginia to George and Elvie (Pernu) Haiman. He was a graduate of Embarrass High School. Right out of high school, he joined the U.S. Marines. He came back to the Iron Range in ’66, but resided for the last 22 years in Britt. On December 31, 1998, he was united in marriage to Sandra Mickelson. Howard retired from US West after working for 35 years. He was a Fire Chief of Great Scott Twp., first responder, and secretary of CWA Union.

He loved the outdoors, camping, fishing, gardening, but most importantly spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra; children, David C., Amy Zufall, Angela Johnson, Jason Koski and Jessica Bradford, Brandon Koski, Jeremy Koski and Erin Theordore, and Amanda (Guy) Anderson; grandchildren, Amanda, Felicia, Brittany, Adrianne, Connor, Dean, Melissa (Scott), Katrina (Joel) Jacob, Creedon Evan, Elijah, Reagan, and Clara; great grandchildren, Paige, Jordan, Ann, Harlow, Chandler, Lily, Avery, Johanna, and Francis; siblings, Natalie Haiman Kennedy, Ginger (Bill) Byrd, Randy (Nancy) Haiman, and Wendy (Bill) Anderson, many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David, sister, Nora Saari, grandson, David A., and granddaughter, Catherine Koski.

    My cousins cousin Howard was a year behind me in Pike and Embarrass schools, always a great guy, and I’m so glad I visited with him several months ago , and he knew me right away.
