Gerald “Jerry” A. Halttunen, of Squaw Lake, formerly of Virginia, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2018 at his residence. No services will be held at this time. Gerald Allan Halttunen was born March 29, 1939 in Grand Rapids. On August 13, 1966, he was united in marriage to Sylvia Schlotfeldt. In February of 1977, the couple moved to Virginia from St. Louis Park. Jerry started working for Martin Chevrolet in 1977 until he starting working at Minntac in 1979. He retired from the mines in 2004. In 2013, Jerry bought his retirement home on Round Lake where he was raised.

Jerry enjoyed hunting and fishing and he especially enjoyed spending time with family and his grandson.

He is survived by:
Sons: Jason “Chilli” Halttunen of Virginia
Josh (Teri) Halttunen of Zimmerman
Grandson: Beau Halttunen of Virginia
Sister: Arlene Woods

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and brothers, Leonard, Melvin, and Raymond

    So sorry for your loss! I liked your Dad. I hadn’t seen to much of him since my Mother had passed away in 2012
    My Mom was Norma Nelson, Leonard Haultenen’s 1/2 Sister. So your Dad did come and visit her most of the time when he came to Squaw Lake! Just take comfort in the memories!
