Ellen Elma Krummi

Ellen Elma Krummi, 92, of Virginia passed away Sunday, April 3, 2022 at the Waterview Pines Nursing Home in Virginia.

Ellen was born on April 2, 1930 in Nichols Township, Mt. Iron, MN to Oscar and Aina Hendrickson. She attended school in Cherry. On July 15, 1950 she was united in marriage to Ben Krummi in Virginia. They moved to Lake Vermillion where she owned and operated Ellen’s Cafe in Cook, MN. For greater occupational opportunities they moved to the Twin Cities area (Big Marine Lake). She was employed at the Lino Lakes Correctional Facility as a correctional counselor. In 1976, they returned to the Iron Range where she worked for the St. Louis County Crisis Center. After retirement in 1986, she pursued her passion for cooking/baking as a Pampered Chef representative. She has been remembered for her delicious caramel rolls, doughnuts and cream pies.

Surviving Ellen are her two daughters, Deborah Meinke of Forest Lake and Lori and Phillip Tetrault of Forest Lake; two sons, James and Denise Krummi of Marine/St. Croix, and Mark and Jenifer Krummi of Iron; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

The family of Ellen Krummi has requested that memorials be given to Care Partners of Virginia.

A Memorial service will be held Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the United in Christ Lutheran Church (201 Station 44 Road, Eveleth, MN 55734) at 12:00 pm with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Pastor John Dietz will officiate. A luncheon will follow. Interment in a family plot at the Zim Cemetery is planned for a later date.

    I have always thought of Ellen as another Grandma. I remember many fun times at the lake and of course all the tasty goodies she would cook up.
