Tona had many gifts but the ones that were the strongest guiding light in her life were cooking, taking care of others, and sharing her stories of life with all. Tona was a strong woman that used her sense of humor to lighten your load, or to say to you “Things could be worse.” Her sense of humor also showed her strength for enduring the worst but also her humor would take her to the best place too! Tona was also a mentor at the Mesaba Buhl Boy’s Academy. She shared her stories and advice with the boys but again used her humor to better explain a situation that would give the boys hope that life will get better!
Tona passed away with the same strength, determination, and a sense of humor as she lived. Tona is with God and her husband, her best friend Swanee. We have learned so much through the years from her and we thank her for sharing all of her gifts with us. Goodbye for now and you are now in God’s hands. You are already missed and your memory will be forever.
Tona is survived by her children: Tom and his wife Kris and sons Allen (wife Alicia and great grandchildren Lilliana, Giulia, Cora and Ruby) and Joseph, Karen, Jay and his wife Debbie, Rob and his wife Sheree, Julie and her husband Chris and their daughters Taylor and Sydney. Her siblings are, Mary Ellen (sister) and Jim Kochevar, Trishie (sister)and Earl LaChance, Rosie Serrano (sister in law), and Beana (sister) and Ken Mueller. Tona was also a mom, grandma, great grandmother, sibling, and friend. There are so many more people in her life that considered her family.
She is preceeded in death by her husband Swany (Victor), her mother, Julia Serrano, her father, Pasquale Serrano, her brother, Pat Serrano, and her, sister Janet Johnson.
